Penn State Altoona to host ‘Out of Darkness Walk’ April 5

Penn State Altoona will host an Out of the Darkness Walk on Saturday, April 5. The purpose of this walk is to raise awareness and money for suicide prevention. 100% of donations go directly to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, whose mission is to save lives and provide hope for individuals impacted by suicide.

ALTOONA, Pa. — Penn State Altoona will host an Out of the Darkness Walk on Saturday, April 5. 100% of donations go directly to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, whose mission is to save lives and provide hope for individuals impacted by suicide through:

  • Funding research
  • Educating communities about mental health and suicide prevention
  • Advocating for policies about mental health and suicide prevention
  • Providing support to survivors of suicide loss and those affected by suicide

Check-in begins at 10:00 a.m. at the Laurel Pavilion. The walk begins at 11:00 a.m. and is approximately one or two miles in length.
